Novice Program
Dear WQMA Novice Families,
The WQMA Novice Training Program is a fun, informative learning process. Each potential driver must complete one of the WQMA Novice Training Sessions offered during the season to be eligible to participate in quarter midget racing. Please be advised that WQMA reserves the right to modify these dates if necessary.
Orientation will last a few hours. If you have not yet joined, our secretary will be there to help you. See the membership information below for what to bring.
For those of you with kids who have never been in a quarter midget, we will be meeting at the track after drivers' orientation is finished so they can take a trip around the track. You will need the car and all the driver's safety equipment. We will do a safety review of the cars to ensure they are in good mechanical operating condition.
PLEASE make sure that the throttle is set so when your driver presses on the gas pedal, the throttle moves less than 1/8 of an inch. This is not only for the safety of the kids but also the trainers.
Please contact Kevin Crum, Novice Trainer, at kcrum@absbusinessdata.com with any questions.
As you prepare to join WQMA and QMA, one of the best kept secrets in motorsports, there are a couple of things we need to take care of first.
MEMBERSHIP
You will need to complete a 2011 membership packet to join. The packet must include the following items:
-
Completed membership packet paperwork (filled in by handler/parent)
-
1 inch by 1 inch picture of each parent or handler
-
Check made out to WQMA for membership dues.
-
Copy of each driver's birth certificate
Please contact Rhonda Kooy at rhondakooy@comcast.net or Kevin Crum at kcrum@absbusinessdata.com ahead of time.
RACE CAR:
You will need to provide your own quarter midget. If you have not purchased one already, there are some available on our web site listed under the classifieds section.
All Novice Participants must participate in all 6 of the Novice Training classes in order to be eligible to race in the Novice Division at WQMA or any other QMA track. If you will be unable to attend one of the classes, please talk with the Novice Director to see if arrangements can be made to make up the class at another time. You are not obligated to attend the
Novice Challenge; this event is your child's first opportunity to race.
It takes place at the Little Wheels club in Graham, and includes Novice drivers from the entire region.
Please contact Kevin Crum, Novice Director, at kcrum@absbusinessdata.com with any questions.
We look forward to having you be a part of our racing family!
