For 33 years, the track at Paine Field has provided a home for young drivers and exciting Quarter Midget racing.  This year will be WQMA’s last racing season at the track in Mukilteo.  The land is being developed for other uses and our organization must build a new track.

What is a Quarter Midget

Quarter Midgets are quarter-scale race cars, driven by kids ages five to sixteen years old.  These young racers compete at various skill levels on a 1/20th mile oval track.  The cars are real race cars with full suspension, a four-cycle, single cylinder engine, and all the safety equipment found in full-sized race cars.  The cars travel at speeds of 30+ miles per hour, and one lap takes a mere six seconds!  The drivers have to learn to make quick decisions in cramped quarters – both in their cars and on the track.  The whole family gets involved in Quarter Midget racing.   Dad usually acts as the chief mechanic and mom helps with scoring and other race day activities.  Quarter Midget racing is exciting and provides an excellent framework to teach important life lessons in self confidence, sportsmanship and responsibility.

In late 2003, WQMA was given permission to plan and construct a new race track at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe .  This location provides an excellent opportunity for growth!  However, WQMA’s ability to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and provide a venue for youth motor sports is still in doubt.  Due to county financial regulations, our organization is required to cover all the costs associated with development and construction of the new track.  Our next challenge is to raise nearly $500,000 to pay for the project.  This is where we need your help to build the new track!

We are selling bricks for our new track.  These bricks will be placed on the start/finish line, the pit area and various other locations around the facility.  Each brick will have room for 2 lines, 15 characters per line where you can put your name or business name.  We believe this is a great way to advertise your business, while supporting a great youth sport!

We hope you will give careful consideration to helping us build a great new facility for the sport of Quarter Midget racing!
